Introduction

Sudoku is the world’s favourite logic puzzle. The puzzle itself was invented in the USA when Howard Garns, an architect, added the nine 3×3 blocks within the 9×9 grid to a statistical analysis tool called Latin Squares, originally devised by 18th century Swiss mathematician Leonard Euler. Howard Garns called his puzzle Number Places.

When Number Places was published in Japan, the literal descriptive title ‘Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru’ meaning ‘numbers must be unmarried or single’ was shortened to Su doku.

Sudoku became a global phenomenon when Wayne Gould, a retired judge, began producing his own puzzles and introduced them to the Times newspaper in London, which began publishing Sudoku puzzles in November 2004.

Eredeti Sudoku was the first Sudoku magazine to be published in Hungary and first appeared in September 2005. Now, Eredeti Sudoku is the leading Sudoku magazine in Hungary. We have one mission: to deliver great Sudoku puzzles to every city, town and village in Hungary.
